What are Self Locking Counter / PAL Nuts?

Self Locking Counter Nuts, also known as PAL Nuts, are a type of vibration resistant locking fastener that can be used in a wide variety of applications.

Manufactured to DIN 7967, a PAL Nut is designed to be installed over the top of a standard Hexagon Nut with the protruding flanges tightly gripping the nut to create a locking action.

Pal Nuts are also suitable for use as a standalone fastener in light duty assemblies, generally being fastened by hand down the thread of a screw or bolt until finger-tight, before securing with the use of a Spanner.
