Imperial Nord Lock Washers are a type of specialist Locking Washer, developed by Nord-Lock Group to offer a superior anti-vibration solution.

The Nord-Lock Group Wedge-Locking Solution

Designed to prevent screws and bolts from loosening, the innovative wedge-locking solution created by Nord Lock Group works by securing the threaded fastener to a nut or mating component using tension as opposed to friction.

This distinction makes Nord Lock Washers functionally different to traditional locking components, with the two washers (supplied as a glued pair) specifically designed to work together in creating the wedge lock.

Featuring ‘cams’ on the inside of the washers which attach together and radial serrations on the outside which work by gripping onto both the mating surface material and underside of the bolt or screw, Nord Lock Washers create a tension fastening that prevents the nut from rotating.

As a result of this grip, and the fact that the cam inclination is at a greater angle than the screw or bolt’s thread pitch, a wedge-effect is created under the head of the bolt, which stops the bolt from self-loosening.

The Nord-Lock brand name is laser marked onto each washer, confirming its authenticity and traceability.

Junker Test Certified Lock Washers

Many independent tests, such as Junker Vibration Tests, have verified the effectiveness of Nord Lock’s wedge locking solution. The DIN 65151 Junker test is typically noted to be the most rigorous method for testing bolted joints.This involves the exposure of the fasteners to extreme vibrations, whilst continually monitoring the clamping force.

Imperial Nord Lock Washer Materials

As for finishes, there are two options available, a standard variant or the Nord Lock Delta Protekt zinc flake coating which is excellent at preventing corrosion.
